Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri has been a popular Indian actress who achieved notoriety for her roles in the films Hum Aapke Haiin Koun as well as Beta Saajan. In the 80s the actress began her acting career, and was well-known for the character Tezaab which she played alongside an established actor Anil Kapooor. Then she appeared in the film Dil In which she shared the screen with Aamir Khan. In Mumbai, she was raised by middle class parents. When she was a young age, she began to learn dance. At the age of 16 She began to act and struggled for years due to the fact that her early films failed. She found fame and became one of India's leading film actresses. After her wedding ceremony, she took a short absence from acting until she returned. She played a major role on Gulaab Gang, a film that explores the struggles of women in India. Dixit was nominated for 15 Filmfare Awards. Of these she's won eight. Dixit was also awarded the Padma Shri the fourth highest civilian honor in India. Her name is well-known for her social works as well.
